Terms of Use

Effective date: October 27, 2026
Last updated: October 27, 2026

Please read these Terms carefully. Section 16 limits our liability, and Section 18 explains how disputes are resolved.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Sapien Lighting LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Sapien Lighting,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply when you use sapienlighting.com (the “Site”), submit a form or online quote request, book a consultation, pay a deposit or invoice, communicate with us by phone, text, or email, or buy our holiday, permanent, or landscape lighting design, installation, removal, or related services (the “Services”).

By using the Site or the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site or the Services. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

Your written proposal controls your job. If you accept a written proposal, estimate, invoice, or service agreement from us (a “Proposal”), that Proposal governs the work it covers, including price, payment, scheduling, cancellation, and any warranty. If a Proposal conflicts with these Terms, the Proposal controls.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into contracts to buy the Services.

2. About us

Sapien Lighting LLC, 9127 Research Blvd #1111, Austin, TX 78758. Email: contact@sapienlighting.com. Phone: (737) 777-9099. We serve the Austin, Texas area.

3. Website content and prices

  • General information only. Blog posts, guides, cost articles, photos, and product information on the Site are general information. They are not engineering, electrical, roofing, legal, or financial advice for your home.
  • Prices and online estimates are not offers. Price ranges, per-foot figures, examples, and estimates from our online quote tools are based on the information you give us and on map or photo data, which may be incomplete or out of date. Your actual price depends on your home’s size, height, roof, access, materials, and design. Your price is the price in your written Proposal.
  • Accuracy. We try to keep the Site accurate and current, but it may contain errors or outdated information. We may correct errors and change the Site at any time without notice.
  • Other companies’ names. Product and company names mentioned on the Site are trademarks of their owners. Mentioning them does not mean they sponsor or endorse us. Some pages may contain affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.

4. Consultations, quotes, and scheduling

  • Consultations and quote requests carry no obligation for you or for us. We may decline any project for any lawful reason.
  • Quotes rely on the information you provide and the conditions we can see. If we find conditions that change the work (for example, damaged or inaccessible roof edges, missing outlets, or other hidden problems), we’ll tell you and get your approval before doing extra work at extra cost.
  • Install and removal dates are targets, not guarantees. Weather, safety, HOA rules, supply delays, and similar events may require rescheduling.

5. Purchases made at your home: your right to cancel

If you buy Services during or after a sales visit at your home, or somewhere other than our place of business, you may have the right to cancel within three business days under federal and Texas law. Your Proposal will explain how to cancel. Any other cancellation and deposit terms are stated in your Proposal or on the payment page. If the law gives you a longer cancellation period or greater rights, the law applies.

6. Deposits and payments

  • Payments are processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe). Their terms and privacy policies also apply to your payment. We do not store your full card number.
  • Deposits, progress payments, and final payments are due as stated in your Proposal, invoice, or payment page. A deposit reserves a place on our schedule; its refund terms are the ones stated in your Proposal or on the payment page.
  • If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us first at contact@sapienlighting.com so we can try to fix it quickly.

7. Your responsibilities

So we can do the work safely, you agree to:

  • give us accurate information about your property, and confirm that you own it or are authorized to approve the work;
  • get any HOA, landlord, or community approvals you need;
  • give us safe access to the work areas, and keep pets, children, vehicles, and obstacles clear while we work;
  • provide working outdoor power (and Wi-Fi, for app-controlled systems) where your design needs it; and
  • tell us about any known roof, gutter, fascia, irrigation, or electrical problems before we start.

8. Installation, products, and electrical work

  • Low-voltage and plug-in lighting only. We install holiday, plug-in, and low-voltage exterior lighting. We do not perform work that requires a Texas electrician’s license, such as adding outlets or circuits or making hardwired connections to your home’s electrical system. If your project needs that work, you’ll need to hire a licensed electrician separately.
  • Installation effects. Lights are attached with clips, fasteners, stakes, or mounting tracks as described in your Proposal. Small marks or fastener holes may remain after removal. Lights, cords, and decorations outdoors are exposed to weather, animals, and other conditions outside our control.
  • Third-party products and apps. Lights, controllers, timers, and smart-lighting apps are made by third-party manufacturers. App features, firmware, and cloud services depend on the manufacturer and your home network, and the manufacturer may change or discontinue them. Any manufacturer warranty comes from the manufacturer.
  • Warranties. Any warranty from us is only what your written Proposal states. Statements on the Site, in ads, or on social media are not warranties.

9. Photos, testimonials, and reviews

  • Photos. We may photograph the outside of your property and our work, and use those photos on our website, social media, and marketing. We try to avoid showing house numbers, license plates, and people. If you’d rather we not use photos of your home, email us and we’ll stop using them on channels we control.
  • Testimonials. We use your name or testimonial in our advertising only with your permission, or where you posted it publicly on a review site.
  • Honest reviews. We welcome honest reviews, positive or negative. Nothing in these Terms or any Proposal limits your right to post an honest review.

10. Acceptable use of the Site

You agree not to misuse the Site. For example, don’t try to gain unauthorized access, interfere with the Site’s operation, introduce malware, scrape it with automated tools, submit false information or someone else’s information, or use our forms to send spam. We may block anyone who misuses the Site.

11. Text messaging terms

Messages we send. Sapien Lighting sends text messages to mobile numbers that opt in, such as replies to your requests, quotes, appointment confirmations and reminders, invoices and payment links, job updates, and, if you separately agree to them, seasonal offers and promotions.

By checking a text-message box on our forms or booking calendar, texting us first, or otherwise giving us written consent, you agree to receive recurring text messages from Sapien Lighting at the number you provided. Messages may be sent using automated technology. Consent to receive marketing texts is not a condition of any purchase.

Opting out. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. You can also opt out by replying CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, or OPT OUT, by calling (737) 777-9099, or by emailing contact@sapienlighting.com. We may send one message confirming your opt-out. To start again, reply START.

Help. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at (737) 777-9099 or contact@sapienlighting.com.

Your number. You confirm that you are the account holder or an authorized user of the number you provide. If you change or give up that number, please text STOP from it or let us know.

Delivery. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and delivery is not guaranteed.

Privacy. See our Privacy Policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or text-message opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.

12. Email and calls

We send emails about your requests and Services. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribe requests as required by law. If you ask us not to call you, we’ll add your number to our internal do-not-call list.

13. Our content

The Site’s text, design, logos, photos, and videos belong to Sapien Lighting or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view the Site and share links to it for personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don’t copy, republish, or use our content commercially without our written permission. Lighting designs and plans we prepare for you are for use at your property.

Copyright concerns. If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright, email contact@sapienlighting.com with: a description of the work; the page address of the material; your contact information; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner. We’ll review it and remove material where appropriate.

14. Information and links

You’re responsible for the information, photos, and comments you send us or post on the Site, and you confirm you have the right to share them. You allow us to use them to provide the Services and, for public comments, to display them on the Site. The Site uses or links to third-party services, such as scheduling, forms, payments, maps, video, review sites, and social networks. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for sites or services we don’t control.

15. Disclaimer

EXCEPT AS STATED IN YOUR WRITTEN PROPOSAL, AND TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty or right that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including your rights under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act.

16. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

(A) NEITHER YOU NOR WE WILL BE LIABLE TO THE OTHER FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF THE SITE, THE SERVICES, OR THESE TERMS.

(B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SITE (AS OPPOSED TO THE SERVICES) IS LIMITED TO ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).

(C) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICES IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES THAT GAVE RISE TO THE CLAIM.

(D) THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY TO: (1) DEATH OR BODILY INJURY CAUSED BY OUR NEGLIGENCE; (2) PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO YOUR PROPERTY CAUSED BY OUR NEGLIGENCE WHILE PERFORMING THE SERVICES; (3) OUR GROSS NEGLIGENCE, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR FRAUD; OR (4) ANY LIABILITY OR RIGHT THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED OR WAIVED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE TEXAS DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES–CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT.

17. Indemnity

If you misuse the Site, violate these Terms, or submit content you had no right to submit, and that leads a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to reimburse us for the reasonable losses and costs (including reasonable attorney’s fees) resulting from that claim. This section does not apply to claims caused by our own negligence or misconduct.

18. Disputes

Talk to us first. Most concerns can be solved quickly. Before filing a lawsuit, the party with the concern agrees to send the other a written description of the problem and the outcome requested, and both of us will try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days. Send yours to contact@sapienlighting.com and to the address in Section 2. This step does not replace any notice the law requires, and any deadline to bring a claim is paused during those 30 days.

Where disputes are heard. Except for claims that qualify for small claims court (Texas justice court), any lawsuit arising out of or relating to the Site, the Services, our communications with you, or these Terms will be brought in the state courts located in Travis County, Texas, or in the federal court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, and both parties consent to jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section limits any venue rights you have under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and by applicable federal law.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Changes apply going forward from the date they are posted. They do not change a Proposal you already accepted.

20. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any Proposal are the entire agreement between you and us about their subjects.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the fullest extent allowed, and the rest remains in effect.
  • No waiver. If we don’t enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a sale or reorganization of our business.
  • Events beyond our control. Neither of us is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as severe weather, freezes, utility outages, supply shortages, illness, or government orders.
  • Notices. We may give you notices by email, by text (if you’ve opted in), or by posting on the Site. You may give us notices using the contact information in Section 2.
  • Survival. Sections 3, 8, 9, and 13 through 20 survive after you stop using the Site or Services.
